Arundhathi Krishnan has been learning Carnatic vocal music from the age of 7 and gave her first public performance at the Rama Navami celebrations at the Fort High School Bangalore when she was 13.
She had been learning with many gurus. For the last 8 years she has been learning from her aunt Smt. Soundaram Krishnan at Chennai. She is also undergoing training in Pallavi singing from Sangeetha Acharya Prof. T R Subramaniam. She has also learnt a number of rare krithis that had been composed by Mysore Vasudevacharya from his grandson Prof. Rajaram, the former Director of Kalakshetra, Chennai. She has also trained in Hindustani music with Smt. Bharathi Balakrishnan.
Over the last 5 years she has performed at Chennai, Bangalore , Mumbai, Mysore etc. This includes performances at the Gayana Samaj Bangalore, Ananya Bangalore, Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha Bangalore, Shanmukananda Sangeetha Sabha Mumbai, Nadhabrahma Mysore.
In Chennai her recent concerts include concerts at Hamsadhwani and Nadopasana in January 2009. In the recently concluded December 2008 season at Chennai she has performed at a number of places. These include the Mylapore Fine Arts, Karthik Fine Arts and Brahma Gana Sabha, She has also performed at the Spirit of Youth Concert at The Madras Music Academy in 2007.
She has won prizes at competitions organised by the Music Academy , Chennai, the Indian Fine Arts Society Chennai, Nadhabrahma Mysore.
She is a National Talent Scholar and is doing an undergraduate program in mathematics at the Madras Christian College Chennai.
She is the Grand niece of Acharya Choodamani Prof. N S Jayalakshmi formerly of Kalakshetra and the granddaughter of the well known journalist Shri N .S Jagannathan.
