Concert on Mirabai byBombay Jayashri at Sankalp Trust
CHENNAI 17 th feb: Carnatic music exponent Smt. Bombay Jayashree plans a musical show on Mirabai the greatest devotee of Krishna . Smt. Bombay Jayashree's new venture will peep into the life and works of the great vaggeyakara, Mirabai. The concert will be on March 7 at Chennai. The even is named Bhaire Baanvari . The fecilitators behind the venture is Sankalp Trust. The trust informed that the programme will be used to help students who need special care and attention.

Delhi to witness Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha festival
New Delhi , 14 th Feb : Tyagaraja Music Festival organized by Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha will commence on February 26 and will conclude on 2 nd of March. Yhis years awards were also declared and the award winners are Shanta and V. P. Dhananjayan (Dance), Y.G.Mahendran (Drama), Ranjani & Gayathri (Vocal), and O. S. Arun (Vocal). Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Sri.. E. S. L. Narasimhan will inaugurate the five day long festival.

“Sare Jahan Se Accha, 2009”- A two-day festival of dance

It is the third consecutive year that UTSAV is organizing a two-day dance festival “ Sare Jahan Se Accha” 2009 . The festival celebrates the spirit of India 's freedom as well as is an expression of pride in the achievements of the nation as it turns 62 . Utsav Educational and Cultural Society is working relentlessly for over two decades in the promotion and integration of Indian culture, through the various forms of Indian Classical dance and music especially Odissi, under the guidance of Odissi exponent Smt Ranjana Gauhar, Padmashri and Sangeet Natak Awardee. The festival will be held on the 9 th & 10 th August, 2009 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi . The programme begins at 7 p.m. on both the days.
Day One: Sunday 9 th August, 2009 (Sunday)
For this festival Utsav brings together “Trimudra”, a production, which depicts the beauty of dance in a composite presentation of Odissi, Gotipua and Chhau. The inaugural presentation will begin with a patriotic invocation to the Mother Land . This will be followed by a pure dance presentation where all the three styles will perform in fusion. There will be solo presentations of the individual dance forms also. The evening will conclude with a performance based on the popular regional story of Orissa- ‘Chandra Bhaga' in all the three styles.
The artists for the evening shall be Smt Ranjana Gauhar and group (Odissi), Shri Shashadhar Acharya and group (Chhau) as well as Shri Bijay Kumar Sahoo's group from Bhubaneswar , Orissa (Gotipua). (Duration: 1 Hr;15 mins).
Day Two: 10 th August, 2009 (Monday)
- Guru Singhajit Singh and group ( Delhi ) will present innovative and traditional items in Manipuri style of dance. (35-40 mins)
- Uma Dogra and group (Mumbai) will present ‘Dawn of India ,' a Kathak production depicting India 's freedom struggle. (30 mins)
This festival is designed as an annual event with the objective of collectively sharing with fellow Indians as well as igniting in them the patriotic spirit through India 's rich dance traditions.
