I very much appreciate the fund of information and knowledge available in your website on Carnatic music. For a layman like me, it is a veritable mine of knowledge. Thank you | | | | Date : Friday, January 01, 2010 1:31:57 PM | | Name : | Venkata Ramana Simham | | Site Url : | None | | Referred by: | Just surfed in | | Location : | Hyderabad | | Comments : | Dear Sir/Madam, Firstly I would like to appreciate the hardwork put in to make all the Melakartha Ragams available in a
presentable and pleasant form. And for just one question which I am little confused about is the first sentence mentioned in your website as below.
"The Melakarta Ragams are the 72 basic Janya (Root) ragams for all of the infinite others in Carnatic Music."
As per my knowledge or rather I was told that the 72 MelaKartha Ragams are Parent Ragams known as "JANAKA RAGAMS". Kindly let me know if it is my mistake in interpretation or if I am correct in pointing out the error. Waiting for a response
Warm Regards,
